Welcome and thank you for visiting Melissa Polo for Circuit Court Judge, 13th Circuit, Group 24 and your interest in learning about Melissa’s campaign.

On August 30, 2016, we will ask you to select Melissa M. Polo for Circuit Court Judge, Group 24, in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. It is Melissa’s belief that our community needs more good jurists on the bench. It is also important to our system of justice, both how it operates and how it is perceived, that individuals who have worked hard, are committed, and are qualified be placed in these important positions.

In her nineteen years serving as an advocate for justice, she has done everything it takes to be qualified for the position of Circuit Court Judge with a very diverse legal back ground. Polo’s varied legal experience serving as a state prosecutor and private practitioner has provided her with a strong foundation to serve the citizens of Hillsborough County as a Circuit Court Judge. Polo has tried hundreds of cases to verdict before both judges and juries. In addition, active practices in both civil and criminal law provide her with an acute familiarity with the rules of evidence, civil procedure and criminal procedure. Moreover, Polo has practiced in multiple counties and circuits. All of these experiences have provided her with a well-rounded perspective to utilize in a judicial role.

If elected, Melissa Polo pledges to serve the citizens of Hillsborough County by applying the law established by the legislature and respectively listening to each individual who appears before her.

Melissa Polo’s life’s work has been in the courthouse and courtroom working with judges, prosecutors, public defenders, peers, clerks, bailiffs and victims.  Polo has learned the applicable law prosecuting and defending hundreds of cases in which circuit court judges preside over.  Polo’s legal acumen coupled with her courthouse relationships and community involvement will enable her to run an organized, efficient, respectful and fair courtroom. As the daughter of hard working parents, they instilled in her a sense of faith, family and service.  Melissa Polo regards becoming your next circuit court judge as the best way she can give back to this community she loves so dearly.

Fantastic day on the campaign trail knocking on doors then hitting Mullet Fest, visiting with friends new and old! Great to see my colleague Curt Allen who was my Juvenile Division partner at the State Attorney's office and reminiscing about the hundreds of trials we handled...sounds like we could be teaming up again on a civil case in the very near future. #teampolo #votebymail #votepolo
